Q.

#AskTheExpert my baby is 6 months 16 days .. after delivery LSCS my periods was continued.. but from last 3 months menstrual cycle is not continued .. is it normal

A. Hello dear There will be irregularities in your menstrual cycles even upto one year after your periods start post giving birth. So you have to keep using contraception to avoid accidental pregnancy

A. If you are breastfeeding the baby then there are chances that you will not get periods till you stop breastfeeding.  This is the most common and natural scenario. However it varies from one person to another. Some women get normal periods after delivery even if the mother is breastfeeding. Some get for a few months and then it stops if you are breastfeeding. So do not worry if you are not getting periods after delivery.  If you see or feel something unusual please consult your pediatrician itself once. Also if you are not planning to get pregnant soon then please take the necessary care during intercourse. Breastfeeding exclusively dies not kean you cannot get pregnant.  Yes, it is true to a large extent but not 100% accurate.
