A. It's concerning to hear that your 1-year-old baby is not gaining weight as expected. If her weight has only increased slightly from 8.2 kg to 8.4 kg in the past 3 months, it’s important to look into the possible causes. Here's what you can consider: Diet and Nutrition: Ensure your baby is getting enough calories from solid foods and breast/formula milk. Offer a variety of healthy foods, including fruits, vegetables, dairy, and protein-rich items like egg, lentils, and soft meats. Avoid fillers like juices or sugary snacks, which don't provide enough nutrients. Milk Intake: Since your baby is 1 year old, you should gradually transition to whole milk (cow's milk) or continue with formula if preferred. Make sure she is drinking an adequate amount (around 500-700 ml of milk per day). Picky Eating or Lack of Appetite: If your baby is refusing to eat, try different textures, flavors, or food presentation. Sometimes, toddlers become picky eaters. Try feeding smaller meals more frequently, and avoid distractions (like screens) during mealtime. Health Concerns: Weight gain issues can sometimes be due to underlying health problems such as digestive issues, nutrient malabsorption, or infections. It could also be related to conditions like reflux, food allergies, or anemia. It's worth discussing with a pediatrician, especially if your baby is becoming weaker or showing other signs like lethargy, skin pallor, or delayed development. Developmental Monitoring: Ensure your baby is also hitting other developmental milestones (like standing, crawling, speaking) as this can help in assessing her overall growth and well-being. Please consult with your pediatrician to rule out any medical concerns, as they can help identify the root cause of the lack of weight gain and provide guidance on how to address it effectively.
