Q.

#asktheexpert my baby is 1.5yrs old..with secondary lactose intolerance...what milk based alternatives or substitutes can be given to meet the calcium deficiency.. please suggest...wght 10.4kg, hgt- 78cm

A. Namaste Mom, Mostly animal milk contains lactose , so hence opting for plant based milk are good alernative , such as most obvious been soya milk, also almond or cashew milk, you can also use coconut milk as well for calcium you can give ragi, and other millets , seasme seeds, greeen leafy vegetables, dry fruits , legumes such chana , rajma etc

Soya milk and almond milk are going to be a good option for you to follow for your child and otherwise you can consult a nutrition expert they can help you and guide you with the right kind of milk products that you can use and also you can give good calcium that way with the products that you are going to give
