Mom of a 2 yr 1 m old boy2 years ago
Q.

#asktheexpert My baby does not take my feed as my nipples are small and this has led to low supply of milk now. I give him Lactogen 1 formula feed but now my in laws are forcing to give him cow’s milk as they gave to their kids when they were babies. I am very reluctant in doing so. Please suggest if it is safe to give cow milk to 1 month old baby? We gave him cow’s milk when he was of 20 days but after 1-2 feeds, baby seemed uncomfortable so I stopped but now again I am being pressurised as they think he will miss out important nutrients if we only give formula feed.

A. Animal milk is not advisable before the age of one year if you want you can continue with formula feeding for six month and after completing the age of six months you can go for tone pasteurised milk and it is not necessary that if your in-laws have given something and that is going to be right for your child also things have changed the doctors do not advise you please tell your in-laws a doctors have completely restricted animal milk so I cannot give it
