Q.

#AskTheExpert my baby boy is 2months old. He is on breastfeeding only. He passes stool once in 5-7 days. that too sometimes after using suppository. Is it normal? what should I do?

A. thank you sir.. glycerine suppository has been given thrice when he hasn't pooped for more than 6 days.

A. pls dnt use unnecessary suppository. It is absolutely normal for the baby to not pass motion even for up to one week if the baby is on breastfeeding so no need to worry if it is above one week then you can apply glycerine suppository for easy motion of the baby no syrup for medicine is given orally till 2 years of age for constipation as not recommended.

A. Breastfed babies, especially if they have not started solid foods, can easily go two weeks without a poopy diaper once they are 2-3 months old. Breastmilk is exactly what your baby needs, and so there is little waste product left for the baby to poop out. Exclusively breastfed babies are almost never constipated.
