#AskTheExpert My baby 3 month old has very less hair and severe hair fall .She has dry skin scales on skull which seems like cradle cap infection.What can I do for this?

A. For cradle cap, you can go for oil therapy to loosen the dry flakes. Apply oil on the baby scalp and leave it for fifteen minutes. Then use a fine toothed comb or hair brush to gently comb away the flakes. If the cradle cap seems to be severe you can consult with your pediatrician and get some medicated baby shampoo prescribed. Regarding hairfall, Babies often lose their hair during the first six or seven months. This is common and you need not worry. Before baby birth the hormone levels were high and after birth they decrease. So during the first few months the hair goes into a resting phase when no new hair will grow, after the resting phase the old hair will shed and new hair will start growing.
