POOJA KOTHARIExpecting Mom due in 1 month3 months agoA. A fold or crease in your 4-month-old daughter’s thigh that wasn’t there before could simply be a normal skin fold becoming more prominent as she gains weight or changes her position frequently. However, if it’s a new, asymmetric thigh fold (especially only on one side), it’s important to mention this to your pediatrician, as it can sometimes be a subtle sign of developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH).
Here’s what to watch for:
One leg looking shorter than the other Difficulty straightening the leg Clicking or popping sounds during leg movements Uneven thigh or buttock creases
If you notice any of these or if the fold continues to look unusual, it’s best to get a pediatric check-up and possibly a hip ultrasound to rule out DDH. Early diagnosis is important and treatment is very effective when started early.
