Q.

#AskTheExpert ...my 4 month old has not been pooping regularly since 2 weeks, there are gaps of 3 -4 days...he just needs a diaper change every 5- 6 hours from peeing. He is exclusively on breast milk. Is there something to worry???

A. If your baby is only being breastfed they may not poop every day. This is because their body can use up almost all the components of breast milk for nutrition and there is very little left that needs to be eliminated. After the first 6 weeks or so they can go even a week or two without a poop.

A. constipation in small babies is very common and is more with formula milk. Usually constipation of few days is considered as normal in babies below 6 months of age,you can give bonnisan drops 3 times a day to your child will and givbe frequent feeding, usually medicoines or suppositories are avoided in such a case .if baby is having gastric pain you can give collicaid drops.give proper tummy time and burping to avoid gastric trouble.
