Q.

#asktheexpert my 3 months old sleeps only 10hrs in a day. She wakes up around 11am and doesn’t sleeps untill 12mid night. Is this ok?

A. Sleeping pattern in children may be variable in different age group so if the baby is active and taking proper feeding withyt no other complaints most of the time there is nothing to worry. You have to just see the child should not be uncomfortable which may be because of factors like temperature of the room nasal blockage some discomfort like infantile colic or hunger. In older children a proper discipline is required so that the sleeping pattern can be scheduled according to a proper time try to avoid too much of screen time with sometimes can be the causative factor for disturbed sleep.

A. 8 to 10 hours is a decent amount of sleep that your child is taking in a day so there is no problem with that and if the child is sleeping for a longer duration during the daytime and during the night time that also would be normal because the child is taking out sleep mostly during the daytime which is normal in this age
