#AskTheExpert my 1year baby is not responding to his name but for other sounds .he is very active and plays peek a boo also . he is having good weight and height according to his age. Doctor said it takes 18 months for any kid to respond to his name . is it true . i see many toddlers respond to their name within a year . Doctors here pls give your second opinion.

POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 7 m old boy3 years agoA. Stand relatively close to your child and say his name. Pause for a moment to see if he looks at you. If he does, go ahead and reward him, probably he is distracted and needs more attention.
