Q.

#asktheexpert my 19month old daughter need surgery in general anasthesia for cyst in pinna. however her surgeon give routine blood test and chest xray before surgery.. my question is that is the echo and ecg also require? though her sergeon did not advise but i think as general anasthesia would be done so is it needed echo or ecg?

A. This kind of tests are usually done for adults because we don’t know how far they have maintained themselves and as this is a small child probably that’s why the doctor hasn’t advised. You can consult your doctor and if you want you can get those test doneWrite Your Answer Here

A. Nope I don’t think so it is required and if it was required a doctor would have told you anyway the surgeon would have a better knowledge then you and I can have so I believe if the doctor has not advise you to go for it then you should completely trust the surgeon who is performing the surgery
