Lovleena MishraMom of 2 children4 years agoA. Introduce finger foods to your baby. Avoid force feeding. Let the baby eat food on his or her own. Ensure that the baby handles his or her food independently and encourage him or her to eat the food. Offer a variety of healthy food choices. Try to be creative. Experiment with colourful fruits and vegetables. Offer foods on colourful plates and cut foods into different shapes using food cutters so as to attract the attention of the baby. Threats won't work. Do not bribe. Try to have meals as a family. So that the baby learns after watching his or her siblings, parents and grandparents enjoy the meals cooked. Let your baby get messy during mealtime. Let the baby explore the foods the way they want to. Prepare mashed versions of foods so that they cannot identify or separate the foods they do not like.

Little cubes of soft-cooked sweet potato or carrot, soft-cooked pasta, soft cheese, or chunks of banana are all good baby finger foods to start with. You can also encourage your daughter's exploration into feeding freedom by giving her a spoon of her own while you continue feeding her solid baby food.
