It’s common for toddlers around 3 years and 4 months to become picky eaters, and it can be worrying when they refuse almost everything including fruits, curd (dahi), and juice. At this age, children often assert their independence by rejecting food, and their appetite may fluctuate based on their growth needs.
First, try to avoid forcing food, as it can lead to negative associations with eating. Instead, offer a variety of colorful, fun-looking foods in small portions without pressure. Sometimes, involving your child in food preparation, like letting them choose a fruit or help stir curd, can increase interest.
Offer meals at regular times, limit snacks and avoid giving milk or juice just before meals as it may fill them up. Eating together as a family and modeling good eating habits often encourages children to imitate.
You can also try mixing fruits and curd into smoothies, offering fruit popsicles, or blending vegetables into chapati dough, idli batter, or pancakes to sneak in nutrition.
Lastly, check with a pediatrician to rule out any nutritional deficiencies or oral health issues and ask if a multivitamin supplement is needed temporarily. Be patient and consistent; most picky phases improve over time with positive reinforcement and exposure.
