Q.

#AskTheExpert#MamyPoko Hi Sir. My delivery happened few days ago and I was blessed with baby boy. He is 16 days old now completing 2 weeks. I have query regarding his feeding pattern. He is taking feeds for 40 - 45 mins now and if he's not falling asleep with that, he would again demand for milk. Again that would be a small feed for 15-20 mins. So in one and a half or 2 hours he would feed sometimes for an hour or 1 hr 15-20 minutes not at a stretch but breaking the feed. (45 mins feed first, a gap and again for 15-20 mins). So wanted to check if it is normal for new born to feed for this much time 45 mins to 1 hr 20 mins. Few suggested that the ideal time would be 20 mins to half n hour per feed. Kindly let know you're thoughts on this.

A. Hi mom Initially feed the baby on demand. Yes new born babies can take milk for longer time. Also check for ur milk supply that it is sufficient for the baby or not. U can check by expressing ur milk.
