POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy5 months agoA. For a 3-month-old baby with a lot of cough, it's important to be very gentle and cautious. Since babies this young have sensitive systems, here are some safe home remedies you can try:
1. Keep Baby’s Head Elevated Slightly elevate the head while sleeping (like placing a towel under the mattress) to help reduce post-nasal drip and coughing. Note: Never place pillows directly under the baby’s head. 2. Use a Humidifier Use a cool mist humidifier in the baby’s room to keep the air moist. This can ease throat irritation and loosen mucus. 3. Gentle Steam Inhalation Sit in a steamy bathroom (run a hot shower, close the door, and sit with the baby in your lap for 10–15 minutes). Helps loosen mucus and ease coughing. 4. Saline Drops + Suction Use saline nasal drops and a bulb syringe or nasal aspirator to gently clear the nose. This can reduce coughing caused by postnasal drip. 5. Keep Baby Hydrated Continue breastfeeding or formula feeding frequently. Fluids help thin mucus. 6. Warm Mustard Oil Massage Warm mustard oil with a little garlic and ajwain (carom seeds), cool it slightly, and gently massage baby’s chest, back, and feet. Do this before bedtime. When to See a Doctor Immediately
If the baby:
Has a fever over 100.4°F (38°C) Is coughing so much that they can’t feed or sleep Has fast or labored breathing Has wheezing or chest retractions Is lethargic or very irritable
