Q.

#asktheexpert is tongue to be removed immediately for a 2 months old baby? How to determine the severity of the tie?

A. as child is finding difficulty in breastfeeding only,you need to experiment with different feeding positions. you may use nipple shield for Time being. yes if problem stays as baby grow ,it can affect speech. so necessary follow ups should be taken

A. I consulted few experts who are trained for frenoctomy however one suggested now only since it can be done without general anaesthesia and other surgeon told that wait till you are facing real issues. Currently the situation is like: my baby is having difficulties in latching from breast but he is easily drinking the expressed milk from bottle and he is gaining adequate weight. I am just worries if it’s impact speech and all. Please suggest

A. if baby is feeling difficulty in feeding which is extreme and it leads to low weight gain in Baby,if baby shows sign of pain, discomfort,excess crying during feeding ,it means treatment is must

A. hi this procedure is called frenotomy which involves clipping or cutting the frenulum to allow the tongue to move more freely usually it's quick and painless procedure
