POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 6 m old boy6 months agoA. Cow’s milk is not recommended for babies below 1 year as their digestive system is not fully developed to handle its high protein and mineral content. However, after 12 months, whole cow’s milk is safe and can be introduced as a part of a balanced diet.
For Babies Below 1 Year: Cow’s milk can cause digestive issues, allergies, and iron deficiency anemia. Breast milk or formula should be the main source of nutrition. For Babies 1 Year & Older: Give full-fat cow’s milk as it provides calcium, vitamin D, and healthy fats for growth. Limit intake to 2-3 cups (around 500 ml) per day to prevent reduced appetite for solid foods.
If the baby has allergies, lactose intolerance, or digestion issues, consult a pediatrician for alternatives like fortified plant-based milk or lactose-free options.
