Q.

#AskTheExpert I want to start introducing foods other than breast milk to my daughter as she is 5.5 months old. please provide suggestions for appropriate food options. should I not use salt at all?

A. not to use salt. preferably After 6 month complete you can start weaning your child with simple foods that are prepared at home or cerelac, nestum kind of Pre- prepared baby foods. At that time you can also start giving water but it is always preferable to avoid using salt sugar and honey till 1 year. Continue breastfeeding the baby but you should make sure that you are either giving breastfeed or formula Milk but not animal milk before 1 year. You can give rice porridge Ragi porridge mashed soft fruits like Banana Chiku Apple Puree and other seasonal fruits like mangoes, watermelons etc. keep hydrated

A. hello you should exclusively breastfeed your baby till the baby complete 6 months and if the bm is not sufficient then give bay infant formula milk stage 1 usi g a bpa free bottle like Babyhug which and no food till 6 mo ths and you should avoid added sugar and salt in baby food
