Q.

#AskTheExpert I read a postin which it was said that Influenza vaccine should be given to children below 5 years which is safe from COVID -19 also. So can we directly go and ask the doctor to give the vaccination?

A. Vaccination for children can be considered in the current situation as the cases of covid are less to some extent . In such condition most important Vaccination should be given on priority which your doctor will decide. Influenza vaccine should be given too children above 6 months of age in this season if not given to avoid unnecessary hospitalisation and other risk factors because of flu infection and to your child also you should definitely give the influenza vaccine

A. Yes you can consult your paediatrician for same, The first flu shot is given at six months after the birth of the child. Until then, he or she has his/her mother's immunity to shield them from the pathogens. After six months, parents must get their children vaccinated for flu every year until five years of age.
