Q.

#AskTheExpert i have twin girls, one has thyroid issues and takes medicines regularly. thyroid values keep checking once in every three months. I have doubts regarding, the regular blood test for value check are done on post taking of hormone medicine, does it affect the blood test results?

A. Whenever you keep taking the medication’s, it will keep changing the blood values, but when it comes to TSH levels, it reflects not that particular days, but how the medication has been working. If the child has been skipping for quite some time, and then the value will be different. Also, it is advisable that you get the test done in the same Lab because that will help in getting a proper idea and also ruling out laboratory bias.
