Q.

#Asktheexpert I have put on lot of weight (25 kg to be exact) in pregnancy as well post delivery. My baby is 2 months old now and I have been exclusively breastfeeding. I want to lose weight now, How can I do so without effecting the milk supply?

A. You gained lot of weight during the pregnancy and it will take time to reduce it, therefore, do not rush and crash diet. First make some dietary changes and include more of fiber and protein rich foods and reduce intake of fatty foods like rice, potato, sugar, fried and packaged foods. It it was a normal delivery, you can start doing light exercises like squats, brisk walking, jogging, swimming, breathing and Yogasnas. if C section delivery, wait for 6-8 weeks and start slowly. Drinking warm jeera or lemon water first thing in the morning will be helpful too.
