A. For a 6-month-old baby, introducing complementary foods is an important step in their development. Mango puree, banana puree, and red rice puree are nutritious choices, but a balanced diet for your baby should include a variety of foods to ensure they receive all the essential nutrients. Here’s a guide to help you balance their diet: ### **1. **Variety of Foods:**** - **Fruits:** Continue with mango and banana, but also introduce other fruits like apples, pears, and peaches. These can be pureed or mashed. - **Vegetables:** Add a variety of vegetables like carrots, sweet potatoes, peas, and spinach. These can be steamed and pureed. - **Proteins:** Include protein-rich foods like lentils (dal), well-cooked chicken, or fish. Puree or mash them appropriately. ### **2. **Balanced Meals:**** - **Grains:** Along with red rice, you can introduce other grains like oats or barley. Ensure they are well-cooked and pureed. - **Dairy:** Depending on your pediatrician’s advice, you may start introducing dairy products like yogurt in small amounts. ### **3. **Nutrient-Rich Foods:**** - **Iron Sources:** Include iron-rich foods such as fortified cereals, lentils, and pureed meats. Iron is crucial at this stage. - **Healthy Fats:** Offer small amounts of healthy fats, such as a bit of avocado or a small amount of unsalted butter. ### **4. **Introducing New Foods:**** - **One at a Time:** Introduce new foods one at a time and wait a few days before adding another new food to watch for any allergic reactions or sensitivities. ### **5. **Feeding Schedule:**** - **Consistency:** Offer complementary foods two to three times a day, gradually increasing the variety and quantity as your baby gets used to eating solids. ### **6. **Consult Your Pediatrician:**** - **Personalized Advice:** Your pediatrician can provide tailored advice based on your baby's growth and nutritional needs. They can also recommend appropriate portion sizes and foods to avoid. A diverse diet helps ensure that your baby gets a range of nutrients needed for healthy growth and development.
