Q.

#AskTheExpert I have a daughter of 4.. she keeps crying for smallest of things.. plays normally all day .. but when she is upset.. she is unable to control her sadness ... how can I help her overcome this sensitivity?

A. A great way to help kids learn about feelings is to discuss how characters in books or TV shows may feel. Pause to ask, “How do you think he feels right now?” Then, discuss the various feelings the character may be experiencing and the reasons why. Talking about other people's feelings also teaches empathy
