Q.

#asktheexpert I had gestational diabetes. After delivery I was on metformin tablets . After monitoring sugar level I stopped tablets. But now my sugar level again high ..after meal sugar level is around 165 daily check up. I want to ask should I continue metformin ? Will high sugar will affect my newborn through breastfeeding ? diabetes transfers through mother milk to baby ?

A. dear Mum diabetes does not transferred to your newborn baby through the breast milk exclusive breastfeeding till 6 months has infact shown to reduce risk of future development of diabetes in child rgarding your high sugar levels you should consult doctor it needs to be monitor and control
