Till the time mother breastfeeds the baby, menstrual cycle is not regular necessarily. There can be variations in the duration of cycle or flow in each cycle. But UPT is must and opting barrier contraception is highly advised as dates are not regular so one can not be sure of ovulation, so chance of conception can be there
