Q.
#AskTheExpert I an eating enough foods for milk production, but still it's not enough for him..can you suggest anything for more production.. my baby boy is 18 days old ,can I give freshly expressed milk to him via feeding bottle

Janani ViswanathanMom of 2 children3 years agoA. Have lot of skin to skin sessions with your baby. This is called kangaroo therapy. It improves Breastmilk, improves baby weight and encourages Breastfeeding. And the key is to feed frequently which will inturn increase your milk supply. Milk secretion increases based on demand. So more and more your baby sucks or tries to feed ur milk supply will increase. Garlic or Garlic milk, fenugreek seeds, nuts, oats, green leafy vegetables, ridge gourd, bottle gourd, pumpkin, pulses. Including these in your daily diet can increase milk supply. Also check with your gynecologist and get some supplement like galact granules prescribed. It can also increase breastmilk. Don't leave long gaps between feeds, frequent pumping will increase milk.

Janani ViswanathanMom of 2 children3 years agoA. Yes you can give through feeding bottle. But make sure it's cleaned and sterilized well all the time. Also If u r parallely Breastfeeding as well as bottle feeding then u may try using Medela calma bottle and teats. It worked for my kids. This bottle works similar to Breastfeeding. The milk won't come unless the baby sucks. It will give the same feel as feeding from the mother. You may give it a try.
