#askTheExpert How long should I continue breastfeeding? my son is 1 yr 2 months old and very much addicted to breastfeeding even though the quantity of milk is lesser now. also due to this I'm not able to get covid vaccination. please suggest.

A. You need to exclusively breastfeed for atleast 6 months and then you can continue till one year and maximum for 2 years. But once the child is one year old, you must start giving whole cow's milk and milk products for rapid growth and development of the baby. There is no need to worry if you want to get yourself Covid 19 vaccinated. You can continue breastfeeding even after getting vaccinated. There are no risks involved. You will also be able to pass antibodies through your breast milk to the baby so as to be able to fight Covid 19. So even if you are still breastfeeding, you can get vaccinated.
