#AskTheExpert hi my son is 3 years 11 months old.Recently he is licking all the things including finger cloths wall etc.Also he used to touch his private part all the time.please suggest.

Author of questionMom of 2 children4 years agoA. Thank you doctor.But not only fingers but he used to lick all things like his toy ,wall ,sofa,my Body ,everything.Also touch and scratch his private part.

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children4 years agoA. Thumb sucking in infants is a very normal phenomenon and its called mouthing reflex and nothing to be worried about it just maintain proper hygiene and with time this thing will go .
In the toddlers thumb sucking habit is also seen many a times which could be phycological cause andc feeling of insecurity or scome stress . Just try to make the child comfortable and divert in some activities also spend good time with the child .
In extreme case withdrawal can be tried with some solution available which are bitter like femite lotion . It needs to be applied locally .
