A. For your 1-year-old boy, the best milk options are typically full-fat cow's milk or whole milk, as these provide the necessary fats and nutrients for growth and development. Here's some guidance: 1. Cow's Milk: Best Option: Whole cow's milk is generally the recommended choice after your baby turns 1 year old, unless advised otherwise by a pediatrician. It provides essential nutrients like calcium, protein, and fat, which are important for his growth. Try Different Brands: If your baby didn't like the Verica packet milk, you might want to try a different brand or source of milk. Some babies are sensitive to the taste or texture of different milk brands. 2. Fortified Milk: If your baby is a picky eater, you can consider fortified milk, which has added nutrients such as vitamins D and A, which are crucial for bone health and immunity. Look for brands that are suitable for babies. 3. Other Milk Alternatives: Breast Milk: If you are still breastfeeding, you can continue offering breast milk as the primary source of nutrition. Formula Milk: If your baby isn’t adjusting to cow's milk, you can also continue with toddler formula for a little while, though it’s often not necessary after 1 year unless recommended by your doctor. Tips if Baby Doesn't Like Cow's Milk: Gradual Transition: If your baby doesn’t like cow's milk, try gradually mixing it with breast milk or formula and slowly decrease the amount of breast milk/formula over time. Flavored Milk: You can also try adding a small amount of flavor, such as a little vanilla or cocoa powder, though it’s best to keep it minimal to avoid sugar intake. Serve It Differently: Sometimes, the temperature or presentation can make a difference—try serving it cold, lukewarm, or even using a sippy cup or bottle with a different design to see if that helps. If your child consistently refuses cow's milk or if you're concerned about his nutrition, it's always a good idea to discuss alternatives with your pediatrician. They can guide you on the best milk and possible supplements for your child's nutritional needs.
