#asktheexpert Hi, my baby's weight is not increasing. she is 3 and a half months old and her weight is only 5.8 kg. Please help!!

A. Hi Mom, if your baby is active, happy and reaching her milestones then nothing to worry much. as baby's weight depends on birth weight, hence an average weight gain we can expect is about 500 gm to 1 kg in a month, double at 6 months and triple at 1 year of age. small deviation is absolutely fine. continue exclusive breastfeeding for complete 6 months. follow good hygiene. avoid force feeding and overfeeding.

A. Hello dear parent, a baby should be double her birth weight by age 6 months. So you can now well calculate as per your baby's birth weight how your baby is growing. Do not worry much about weight. Your baby should be active and playful
