A. At 1 month and 1 week old, it is important for your baby to feed regularly, typically every 2-3 hours. If your baby is sleeping for more than 6 hours without feeding and shows signs of reduced interest in feeding, it could be a cause for concern. Here are a few things to consider: 1. Normal Sleep Patterns: While newborns can sleep for extended periods, they usually wake up for feeds every few hours. 2. Signs of Dehydration: Monitor for signs of dehydration, such as fewer wet diapers (less than 6-8 in 24 hours), dry mouth, or lethargy. 3. Feeding Difficulties: If your baby seems to have difficulty latching or feeding, this could also contribute to less intake. 4. Growth and Development: Ensure that your baby is gaining weight appropriately. Regular pediatric check-ups can help monitor this. 5. Consult a Pediatrician: Given your concerns about feeding and sleep patterns, it’s advisable to consult your pediatrician. They can assess your baby’s overall health and provide guidance. In general, it’s always better to err on the side of caution with newborn feeding concerns, so don’t hesitate to reach out to a healthcare professional.
