Q.

#asktheexpert Hi!! my baby boy is 11 months old. he has been breastfeeding and given formula from the first day. earlier he used to take formula through bottle, but for the past few days he just wants to breastfeed and takes bottle only when sleeping. he is teething at the present time and rejects bottle. is he breastfeeding due to teething?? how can i make him take bottle again and stop breastfeeding.

A. Hi yes during teething phase kids suffer from loss of appetite and they tend to reject food intake. you should not try to force feed your baby and give whatever food he's liking to avoid any nutritional deficiencies.

A. Try dipping the bottle teat into some expressed milk before offering it, so it tastes and smells of your breast milk. Then gently stimulate your baby's top lip with the teat to encourage her to open her mouth. Feed your baby on demand and cuddle her in a semi-upright position.
