A. Around the age of six months, you can start introducing complementary foods to your child. Here are some traditional first foods for a six-month-old Indian child:
1. **Rice Cereal:** Start with a simple rice cereal. Cook rice well and blend it with water or breast milk to achieve a smooth consistency.
2. **Lentil Soup (Dal Ka Pani):** Introduce lentil soup gradually. Cook yellow lentils well and strain the water to make a thin soup.
3. **Mashed Bananas:** Mashed ripe bananas are easy to digest and provide essential nutrients.
4. **Pureed Vegetables:** Begin with well-cooked and mashed vegetables such as carrots, sweet potatoes, or peas.
5. **Khichdi:** A simple khichdi made with rice and well-cooked lentils is a nutritious option.
Remember to introduce one new food at a time and wait a few days before adding another. Watch for any signs of allergies or sensitivities. Additionally, consult with a pediatrician for personalized advice based on your child's health and development.
