Q.

#AskTheExpert Hi doctor, our baby (3.5months old) had small black patches in head during 2nd month and it was in same state.. in last few weeks we see the black patches spreading on the scalp...and some small bumps which later hardens and becomes white head on the scalp... we regularly apply coconut oil on her scalp and wash hair on alternative days... what is the reason for this condition

A. Hello,It seems cradle cap..it is completely harmless, not contagious, and usually disappears by your baby’s first birthday. Rub a small amount of a pure, natural oil – such as almond or olive oil – on your baby's scalp and leave it on for about 15 minutes. Gently comb out the flakes with a fine-tooth comb or brush them out with a soft brush. b

A. Prescribed by Pediatricians, Spoo shampoo is specially formulated to gently moisturize while maintaining the pH level of the scalp as well as the texture of the hair; making it suitable for treating conditions like cradle cap (thick yellow coloured crest on baby's scalp).
