#AskTheExpert Hi Doctor- My baby is 2.5 months old. I can see a small white surface in lower gum which hard.Not a milk deposit tried cleaning it. Can babies start teething at such age? Also, what can be done to help with the teething process, are teething toys advisable?

A. Teething typically occurs around 6 months of age. However, some babies start teething as early as 2 or 3 months. Then again, some babies teeth later and don't cut their first tooth until 8 or 9 months (or later).
