Q.

#AskTheExpert Hi doctor, I am recently diagnosed with UTI with Eschericha Coli and colony growth count 1,00,000 CFU/ml and Heavy Growth. My gynaecologist had initially suggested me 7day Taxim O 200mg antibiotic course before urine culture report for fever, chills, burning urine, itchy vagina and pain in left flank but after the report asked me to stop Taxim and take Niftas SR 100mg. I have two queries : 1. Is it OK to stop an antibiotic course midway suddenly- I have taken the medicine for 5days only out of 7 and have been asked to stop and switch. 2. I am a mother of 17day old and breastfeeding . I checked online and many places says Niftas SR is not safe while breastfeeding but my gynaecologist gave me the antibiotic. Please suggest as I don't want to take any chances with my newborn's wellbeing.
