Q.

#asktheexpert Hello there! My 10 day old baby boy keeps on grunting throughout the day and night. When I visited the paediatrician he had prescribed a nasal drop for the same but no improvement was received. Please let me know the reason and treatment.

A. Hi, I assume that the baby is taking feeds well and passing urine and stools adequately baby’s nose is small and they cannot remove the secretions, so that makes sound when the baby takes breath every time ‘ghar Ghar’ so that’s absolutely normal.. you continue saline drops, you can make it 3 to 4 times a day.. it will subside on its own when the baby grows..

A. Granting is completely normal it is not necessarily because the nose is blocked but still if you want to go ahead with something further apart from nasal drops and you can give steam to the child indirectly so that is going to be quite beneficial apart from nasal drops that you are using
