#AskTheExpert hello doctor my second child is of 20days old. her birth weight is 2.58kg. discharge time her weight was 2.4. now she is 20days old and her weight is 2.7kg. people say she is under weight and by now she must have gained above 3kg. she is on breastfed . is this normal. she is active and her urine and poop are normal . am worried on her weight. she is not taking formula milk.

A. Hai good evening !! Baby's reduce their birth weight and regain by 2-3 weeks. Your baby reduced initially but increased 100gm than Birth weight . As it's only three weeks generally increase 100-150gm per week 400-700gm per month. Baby growth is normal give exclusive breast milk or formula milk every two hours until 5 completed months,16-18 hours sleep , sleep also impacts growth harmone.
