A. For a 2.5-year-old child, the typical recommended dose of vitamin D3 is 400 to 600 IU (International Units) per day, which equals around 10 to 15 micrograms (mcg) daily. Many pediatric vitamin D3 drops provide 400 IU per drop or per mL—check the label for exact concentration. This dose supports healthy bone growth and immunity. Do not exceed the recommended dose unless advised by a doctor. If your child gets very little sunlight or has low vitamin D levels, your pediatrician may suggest a higher dose temporarily. Always use vitamin D drops as per pediatric guidance.
