#AskTheExpert hello doc my baby is having cough and cold and he is unable to breath due to cough please suggest medicine he is 12 months old and his weight is 9.7 kgs. thank u.

Dr. Vaibhav jainFather of a 6 yr 3 m old girl4 years agoA. just stame for the baby .Blockage of nose is due to the common cold and flu due to season variation . Steam along with other home remedy like maintaining baby temperature will help . Nasal drop like nasovion for block . Other medications like paracetamol for fever can be given if any fever .

Cough along with Cold most of the time is a viral illness and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration. you can give steam inhalation which is very useful . cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchodilators or antitussives medicine which shouldii be given only after a proper evaluation by the doctor according to the type of cough. if fever is there paracetamol can be given to reduce the fever and the dose can be repeated after 6 hours again if required .
