#AskTheExpert Good Morning Sir, Madam My baby is 8 months old & his weight is 6.3 kg He poops 4 to 5 times in a day since I started solids... sometimes he poops while having meals also... Is it normal? I m concerned for his weight tooπŸ˜”... his birth weight was 2.95 kg

A. Weight gain in a child is a good indicator for proper health of the child and there should be a regular weight gain as per the age of the child. if there is not a proper weight gain it can be because of many factors and three most important causes arehgb Baby not taking enough calories Baby is not absorbing the enough calories which the baby is taking Baby is burning too many calories . So a proper assessfment is very important to know the cause regarding this .

A. The most likely cause of needing to poop right after eating is the gastrocolic reflex. This reflex is a normal involuntary reaction to food entering the stomach. It does not mean food is passing straight through the body.
