A. If your or your child’s dry cough is persistent and not going away, here are some possible causes and what you can do: Common Causes: Post-viral cough (can last 2–3 weeks after a cold) Allergies or irritants (dust, smoke, perfumes) Dry air (especially with fans or AC) Acid reflux (especially if it worsens at night) Asthma or respiratory sensitivity What You Can Do: Keep the air moist with a humidifier or by placing a bowl of water in the room. Give warm fluids like lukewarm water or soup (for adults/older children). Avoid irritants like smoke, strong smells, or dust. Honey (for children above 1 year) can help soothe the throat. Elevate the head while sleeping to reduce nighttime coughing. When to See a Doctor: If the cough lasts more than 2 weeks If it worsens at night or with activity If there’s wheezing, fever, or breathing difficulty If the child is under 1 year and cough is persistent Let me know if the cough is for you or your baby, and for how many days it's been continuing—I can guide you better.
