#AskTheExpert After my daughter started schooling she is having cold maximum days. what medicine we need to give. only runny nose. thanks

Author of questionFather of a 5 yr 9 m old girl3 years agoA. thanks for the response. she doesn't have fever or cough only runny nose. with steam inhalation can we need to give any cold syrup like motair lc. or we need to give some combination of medicines which need pediatric consultation.

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children3 years agoA. Cold most of the time is a viral illness where there could be running nose sneezing along with cough and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration . steam inhalation will also be useful in this .
cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchodilators or antitussives medicine which should be used once a proper egvaluation by the doctor is done and according to the type of cough its prescribed.
if any fever is there paracgetamol can be given to reduce the temperature and the dose can be repeated again after 6 hours if required .
