ask the expert hlo sir I m mother of 17th month baby.my baby take my feed .may I take covid vaccine .

A. Covid vaccination like covishield/ covaxin in the breastfeeding mothers can be given very safely . According to the latest guidelines issued by healthy ministry pregnant women can also be now safely given the current available vaccines . so they can also register at covin app. Minor complications like fever letxehargy pain at injection site can be handled safely by taking paracetamol . Presently children are not included in this list. Mothers can feed their child as soon as required after the vaccination very safely with no side effects in the child

A. Yes You can take the vaccination and you can continue breastfeeding your child after that but it is just a general advice that I would like to give you that you can easily quit breastfeeding after the age of one year at any point of time so if you want to quit you can otherwise you can continue
