Bathe my baby in lukewarm water every two to three days, using a mild, fragrance-free baby soap. I'll make sure to gently pat my baby's skin dry with a soft towel, being careful not to rub too hard.
Apply a gentle, fragrance-free baby lotion to my baby's skin after every bath to keep it moisturized. I'll pay special attention to the folds of skin around my baby's neck, arms, and legs, as these areas can be prone to rashes and irritation.
Protect my baby's skin from the sun by keeping my baby in the shade as much as possible and using a hat and lightweight, long-sleeved clothing to cover my baby's arms and legs. If my baby will be outside for extended periods of time, I'll use a mineral-based sunscreen that's specifically formulated for babies and apply it 30 minutes before going outside.
Check my baby's diaper frequently and change it as soon as it's wet or soiled. I'll use fragrance-free baby wipes and a diaper rash cream if my baby's skin becomes irritated.
Keep my baby's environment clean and free of irritants by washing my baby's clothes, bedding, and towels with a gentle, fragrance-free detergent and avoiding the use of fabric softeners or dryer sheets.
Overall, my goal is to keep my baby comfortable and happy during the summer months while protecting my baby's delicate skin from the sun, heat, and irritants. I hope this routine helps other new moms out there too!
