Prasutagus Name Meaning

The name Prasutagus is of Celtic origin and has its roots in ancient British history. It gained prominence due to a historical figure, Prasutagus, who was the husband of Boudicca, the queen of the Iceni tribe in the 1st century AD.

Prasutagus was a king who ruled over his people in what is now known as eastern England. He played a significant role in the resistance against Roman rule. After his death, the Romans attempted to annex his kingdom and bring it under their control, disregarding his will which stated that his kingdom should be shared between his daughters and the Roman Emperor. This led to Boudicca's uprising against the Roman forces, known as the Iceni revolt, which became a symbol of British resistance against Roman aggression.
