Annanias Name Meaning

The name Annanias is of biblical origin. It is derived from the Greek name "Hananiah," which means "God has been gracious" or "Yahweh is gracious." In the New Testament of the Bible, Annanias is mentioned twice.

The first reference to Annanias can be found in Acts 5:1-11. He was a member of the early Christian community in Jerusalem who, along with his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property. However, they kept back some of the money for themselves while pretending to give it all to the church. When confronted by the apostle Peter, they both fell dead, symbolizing the severe consequences of deceit and lying.
