Q.

yesterday night my baby has fever. when I give her paracetamol cyrup she get good in morning .but few times later she has fever 102degree farenhit.so I consult a local doctor he gave her paracetamol cyrup and antibiotics ..so is it ok ? please suggest me

A. Fever is a response of the body towards any kind of infection or any inflammatory process in body and only when the temperature is above 99F it is called fever, so you can give paracetamol in a dose of 15 mg/kg/dose as the first line treatment this dose can be again repeated after every 5 to 6 hours if again required and you can also do cold sponging of the body to reduce fever in between the doses ,but if it continues even thereafter you should consult your doctor for prop'er treatment. if the temperature is not controlled by paracetamol alone, meftal p can be given in between as a single dose but only under medical guidance.these medijcines will also work to relieve any pain or body ache to a good extent. but in case of infection in which the fever is associated with other problems also it is recommended to get the clinical assessment done and get a proper treatment done by a doctor.
