Start with mashed or pureed vegetables (carrots, pumpkin, potato, sweet potato, sponge gourd or ash gourd).
Fruit purees like ripe and cooked apple, pear or mashed banana
Gluten-free baby cereals
You can use a combination of solid food and breastmilk to help them transition to solid food.
Give them small amounts no more than a tablespoon at a time.
Once they start getting used to the foods, you can start mixing things up such as yoghurt and apple.
Purees and mashed foods are the first step towards eating solids. Babies take time making this progression, and it should be introduced using a gradual step-by-step process : from soups to purees to chunkier solids. You do not need to wait for their teeth to come – they are good at chewing soft solid foods like rice and lentils using their gums. ,By 8 months, your baby will have learnt to chew by moving food in his mouth with his tongue.
