A. cough and cold medicine is given according to the requirement and examination so do not give any medicine without medical consultation. if given without consultation coughing medicine can aggravate the problem. you can go for home remedies like tulsi ginger (honey is added when child is more than 1 year of age) combination which can be diluted with water and given frequently to the child. d also you can give turmeric with milk one or two times everyday. give warm water to drink as well as nasal saline drops frequently. give warm diet try to prevent temperature variations around the child that is from hot to cold and cold to hot environment .

A. For babies, it's crucial to be cautious with cough medicine, as many over-the-counter medications are not recommended for young children. The best approach usually includes: 1. **Consulting a Pediatrician:** Always consult your baby's doctor before giving any medication to determine the cause of the cough and the appropriate treatment. 2. **Non-Medication Remedies:** Some safe remedies include: - **Honey:** For babies over one year old, a small amount of honey can soothe the throat. However, honey should not be given to babies under one year due to the risk of botulism. - **Saline Drops:** Saline nasal drops can help relieve congestion. - **Humidifier:** Using a cool-mist humidifier can add moisture to the air and ease coughing. - **Elevating the Head:** Keeping the baby's head elevated while sleeping can help reduce coughing from post-nasal drip. 3. **Avoid Certain Medications:** Cough and cold medications are generally not recommended for children under six years old due to potential side effects and lack of efficacy. Always follow your pediatrician’s guidance for the safest and most effective treatment for your baby’s cough.
